Ty Dolwar Our Home.

About

We live in a beautiful part of Wales and

the house has always been busy, raising

a family, grandchildren, pets and more.

Carol.

Carol was born in Essex and moved to Wales when she was

five, her father, Glyn, was a farmer and Gellfechan was his

boyhood home. When they moved to Wales Glyn bought

Pentre Mawr farm in Dyffryn Ardudwy. It was a promise

made to Glyn that led her to write her little family history,

Gellfechan and it’s last Family. The best place to read the

book is sitting outside the ruin on a sunny day. Carol found

Gellfechan an enchanting place as a child and still does. Since

writing the book we heard a story of how when her father

was a boy he would race up to Gellfechan with his brothers

and sister from school for lunch, as if they could smell their

Mother’s cooking. With only a few copies of the book left and

at our time of life it would be a waste to print another run.

We have decided that to keep the story out there we have

made a PDF copy of the book available. So if you are

interested you can buy a copy here for £1 and we will email

the file to you,

Pentre Mawr farm is now owned by Carol’s brother Dennis

and his wife Sue. The farmhouse is now a B&B the postcode

is LL44 2ES Tel: 01341247413.

John.

John was born in Cheshire and moved to Wales to join his family who had moved there some years previous. John is a keen amateur photographer and enjoys researching family history, gardening (vegetables) and nature (watching and photographing) and watching motor racing especially motorbikes.

Poppy

Poppy is our pet cat, she is still very mischievous and although 15 years old can still be kitten like. She loves going to sleep on Carol’s lap and she tolerates John.
