Ty Dolwar Our Home.

About

We live in a beautiful part of Wales and

the house has always been busy, raising

a family, grandchildren, pets and more.

Carol.

Carol was born in Essex and moved to Wales when she was

five, her Father was a farmer and Gellfechan was his boyhood

home. It was a promise made to him that led her to write her

little family history, Gellfechan and it’s last Family. The best

place to read the book is sitting outside the ruin on a sunny

day. Carol found Gellfechan an enchanting place as a child

and still does. Since writing the book we heard a story of how

when her Father was a boy he would race up to Gellfechan

with his brother and sister from school for lunch, as if they

could smell their Mother’s cooking. A few copies of the book

are still available from the community centre café in Dyffryn

Ardudwy called ‘Y tepot arian’ ‘The silver teapot’, with

proceeds going to the Wales Air Ambulance. With only a few

copies of the book left and at our time of life it would be a

waste to print another run. We have decided that to keep the

story out there and for people that like to walk the hills above

Barmouth we should make a PDF copy of the book available.

So if you are interested you can buy a copy here for £1 and

we will email the file to you,

John.

John was born in Cheshire and moved to Wales to join his family who had moved there some years previous. John is a keen amateur photographer and enjoys researching family history, gardening (vegetables) and nature (watching and photographing) and watching motor racing especially motorbikes.

Poppy

Poppy is our pet cat, she is still very mischievous and although 14 years old can still be kitten like. She loves going to sleep on Carol’s lap and she tolerates John.

The Bunnies.

The bunnies arrived in our home in 2007, and there lies another story that beggars belief. It was an experience that we would never have thought possible and one that we would never have missed! As well as being lovely pets they taught us so much about rabbits and made us much more aware of the wildlife that surround us.
